A Message from Executive Director Mydera Taliah Robinson

I am honored to announce that this fall, Amina Robinson will become Theatre Horizon’s next Artistic Director.

This is a joyful and significant moment for our organization.

Amina is an extraordinary theatre maker, educator, and creative visionary.

Many of our audiences already know her remarkable work. She directed our acclaimed production of The Color Purple and most recently returned to Theatre Horizon to direct Ain’t Misbehavin’ which brought incredible joy, energy, and unforgettable artistry to our stage. Her work is distinguished by artistic excellence, emotional depth, and a profound belief in the transformative power of storytelling.

Amina has demonstrated a deep understanding of Theatre Horizon’s mission and a clear vision for what is possible. She understands that great theatre is not only measured by what happens on stage, but by the relationships we build, the artists we support, the students we inspire, and the communities we serve.

She brings more than two decades of experience as a director, performer, educator, and artistic leader. Her work has been seen at some of the region’s most respected institutions. She has led artistic organizations, and helped train the next generation of theatre artists as an Associate Professor of Acting and Musical Theater at Temple University.

Most importantly, she leads with generosity, curiosity, and a deep commitment to people.

As Executive Director, I am incredibly excited about what our partnership will make possible.

Together, we share a belief that Theatre Horizon can be both an artistic home and a gathering place — a theatre that produces exceptional work while creating meaningful opportunities for connection, participation, and belonging. Together, we will continue building on Theatre Horizon’s exceptional legacy.

I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to our co-founder, Matthew Decker, whose steady leadership as Interim Artistic Director helped guide Theatre Horizon through this period of transition. His care for this organization and commitment to its future have helped make this moment possible.

Theatre Horizon’s legacy was built by visionary founders, strengthened by dedicated leaders, and sustained by a community that believes deeply in the power of this work.

Today, that legacy continues with a remarkable new artistic leader. I am confident that Amina’s vision, artistry, and leadership will help Theatre Horizon reach new heights while remaining rooted in the values that have always defined us.

Please join me in welcoming Amina Robinson as Theatre Horizon’s next Artistic Director.

With gratitude and excitement,
