It is with great enthusiasm that we share an exciting milestone in our organization’s journey:
Mydera Taliah Robinson has been named our new Executive Director!
A Norristown native, Mydera has been an integral part of Theatre Horizon for six years, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to artistic excellence, community engagement, and the power of storytelling to inspire change.
She has pioneered initiatives in our Education and Community programs such as our NSTEP programs in Norristown Area Schools and Community Centers, the formation of our Community Advisory Board, the creation of the THREAD Artist Residency, and heralding national recognition to our Autism Drama Program.
An artist in her own right, Mydera first partnered with Theatre Horizon in 2014 as a Spoken Word Artist, performing at our production of The Syringa Tree. In 2016, her visual artwork was featured during New Visions, New Voices—a milestone event for her personally, as it was also her first date with her now-partner, Marquis! Today, they share a son, Mahaya, making Theatre Horizon a meaningful part of her journey in more ways than one.
Mydera joined our staff as Education Coordinator in 2019 and grew into her current role as Director of Community Investment in 2022. Mydera’s leadership has established Theatre Horizon as a more community-centered artistic institution, where partnership, representation, and accessibility are prioritized. She strives to make Theatre Horizon a true gathering place, where people from all walks of life see themselves reflected and invested in the work.
Her tenure as Executive Director begins April 15th.
Theatre Horizon will soon announce a search for a new Artistic Director to work alongside Mydera. Co-Founder Matthew Decker will continue as Interim Artistic Director until that new person is hired.
