Rebecca Lynne aka R. Lyn
Rebecca Lynne aka “R. Lyn” is not afraid. The Philadelphia based singer and songwriter reflects on her life and everything in between through her music. It’s the honesty in her lyrics that create a sound and vibe that are undeniable.
Beginning in the summer of 2016, Rebecca really dug into her talents. On top of being a single mother, homeowner, and working full time in the Pharmaceutical IT industry, she would stay up all hours of the night writing and began recording. After creating a buzz from the short catalog she had created in a few months, R. Lyn was chosen by Philadelphia’s AMP 96.5 Radio as one of the best local artists in Philadelphia. Shortly after this as well, she opened for Tory Lanez, Ginuwine, Mya, Ashanti, Rick Ross, Kranium, Keri Hilson and performed twice for New York Fashion Week. She since released her debut album, “She’s not Afraid”, which is already making an impact with over a million streams and resonating with all genres based on her unique voice and stories.

A graduate from Drexel University with a BS in Electrical Engineering, when not behind a mixing console he is also a full-time FPGA engineer. Because of his voice, and his passion, as a kid, Moe would be asked to participate in small skits and plays in church which developed his love for acting as well. Moe has been blessed to be part of some great stage plays, musicals, and productions over the years, and he has been fortunate to work with Theatre Horizon in shows that include: Barrymore award winning musical Black Nativity, and TOWN. When he’s not performing, Moe enjoys writing and producing music, developing show ideas, family time, running, cooking, and going to church.

Tania Watson
A Big Gain from a Big Loss. On June 4 2014, my Nana took her last breath. I was heartbroken, not knowing how to deal with the death of my person, the one that raised me and made me the woman I am today. After her passing, I searched for a way to remain close to her. I started to become more creative in the kitchen, which was, and still is, very therapeutic. I prayed for over two years for GOD to allow me to be my own boss while still being able to take care of my family. My happiness comes from creating and sharing my passion for food and telling a unique story by crafting events that deliver unforgettable moments with my family, friends, and clients. In May of 2019, I walked out on faith and retired from cosmetology and caregiving to be a full time chef and entrepreneur. I started my catering company, “Flavaz LLC”.
The Experience. “Flava” is what makes a person different. The personality, style and traits that make them stand out from the rest. This is what the Flavaz’ Experience is all about— bringing out the “Flava” in our clients and combining it with our unique touch. Our goal is to bring back the feel of dinner at the dining room table, with our fresh, mouth watering comfort foods. We also enjoy bringing our experience and valuable partnerships with other small businesses in the community to bring our clients unparalleled experiences in food and the celebration of life’s most delicious moments.
Semaj Wray
Semaj Wray AKA Maj (he/him) is a Norristown based artist (singer) and musician (drummer).
Herbie "The Gift" Weaver
THE GIFT OF HEARING MUSIC
Herberto was 12 years of age when his love for music began when his mother purchased a keyboard for him. He began to hear jingles and commercials on the radio and soon after, began listening and developing a keen ear. This showed something special about him when he was it showed he was able to play music on the keyboard without any formal training.
At the age of 14, Herberto decided to join the ninth grade chorus. It was then, he realized that his gift went beyond playing the piano. His teacher began putting him in other choirs to show off his vocals. As time progressed quickly he began to perform at talent shows and competitions where he won many of them.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
One Book One Norristown was rehearsed and performed at Theatre Horizon in Norristown, which stands on the territory known as “Lenapehoking,” the ancestral home of the Lenape people.
For the past 10,000 years, the Lenape have been the original caretakers and stewards of Lenapehoking—one of numerous tribes that comprised tens of millions of people residing on this continent prior to the invasion of European colonizers.
We recognize that Isaac Norris, Sr. — Norristown’s namesake — purchased land from the family of William Penn even though nobody “owns” Lenapehoking. We acknowledge that Isaac Norris, Sr. was a slaveholder who benefited from a system that captured, sold, and enslaved over 10 million Africans who were trafficked to various locations in North America, South America, and the Caribbean.
We acknowledge the 6 million African Americans that moved from the American South to the Northeast during The Great Migration and their roles in making places like Norristown a central hub for industry and retail. Finally, with a large Latinx population in Norristown—particularly people from Puerto Rico and Mexico—we acknowledge the past, present, and future legacies of the Taíno and Aztec peoples.
This land acknowledgement was written by Director of External Relations Gilberto Vega with advisement from Adam Waterbear DePaul and Barbara Bluejay Michalski of the Lenape Cultural Center.
